A man has been jailed after he assaulted a woman at a train station. Roland Doano pleaded guilty to assault at Caernarfon Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, October 22 and was sentenced to eight weeks in prison.

The court heard how, on the previous day, Monday October 21, 44-year-old Doano approached a woman on the platform at Bangor station and sat down next to her. He then put his arm around her before she managed to get away. Doano, who is of no fixed abode, then followed her to an overbridge and blocked her exit. A member of rail staff witnessed the incident and called the British Transport Police. Officers arrived and arrested Doano before taking him into custody where he was remanded until his court appearance.

Investigating officer PC Jack Payton said: “This woman going about her life, minding her own business when Doano approached her and acted in an intimidating and threatening manner. The swift action by officers and rail staff, resulted in his swift arrest and subsequent sentence.”
