A 20-year-old man has been charged with assaulting a woman as well as making a false report to police following the staging of the Bathurst 1000.
It follows an investigation after the man alleged he was assaulted by three other men around 4.15am on October 14 in NSW’s central west.
NSW Ambulance paramedics were called to the scene and took the man and a woman to Bathurst Hospital.
They were later discharged and travelled interstate.
Following police inquiries, the man, 20, was served a future court attendance notice for common assault and false representation resulting in police investigation.
He will appear in Bathurst Local Court on December 11.
In a shock twist, NSW police will allege in court the man who claimed he was the victim allegedly assaulted a woman known to him.
He then allegedly made a false report to police.

It follows Erebus driver Brodie Kostecki clinching his first victory in the famous race at Mount Panorama on October 13, seeing off rival Broc Heeney in the six-hour marathon.
But unsavoury accusations emerged following the race, with Kostecki claiming that a engineer from his crew had been taken to hospital after he was violently assaulted while celebrating the victory.
‘It was a pretty good night with the team,’ the driver said. ‘Unfortunately, we had a bit of an incident with one of our crew members going into hospital, being attacked.’
When he was pressed for details on the incident, he said: ‘One of our crew members was unfortunately attacked last night.
‘It’s pretty disappointing and kind of put a spoil on the evening.
‘We wish Sam all the best and hopefully he recovers fast, along with his partner.’
Several crew members were celebrating at the Oxford Hotel in Bathurst, NSW, after the victory, with the alleged incident occurring around 4.15am on Monday, according to Sky News.

NSW Police released a statement saying they were investigating the reports, but later stated they were ‘confident’ the man had not been assaulted after viewing CCTV footage.
The bizarre vision shows a man appearing to walk down William Street in Bathurst, accompanied by a woman.
He appears to hit himself in the head several times with his hands before falling over on the pavement in front of the woman.
‘Police said that while they are still finalising their investigation, they remain confident there was no attack,’ Seven News reported.
‘Police have confirmed the man is out of hospital.’
The development comes after the Australian Transport and Safety Bureau (ATSB) launched an investigation into a plane crashing into a wall on the track while delivering the trophy on Sunday.
After touching down, the Extra Flugzeugbau EA300 aircraft appeared to veer left onto a patch of grass to the left of the track, before turning right towards a concrete wall.

As the plane approached the wall, the pilot was seen on Fox Motorsport’s live coverage of the event swinging the nose of the craft away from the barrier.
In the process, the tail of the craft turned and made contact with the wall and some debris was seen falling from the plane.
On Tuesday, the ATSB had deemed the moment a ‘serious incident’, before revealing that the organisation will interview the pilot and release a report into whether any critical safety issues were raised by the incident.
