A male member of Texas Tech’s co-ed cheer program gained virality on social media for a hilarious sideline moment during the Red Raiders’ win over Arizona on Saturday.

In the fourth quarter of the game, the Wildcats were up 19-18 with five minutes remaining. After a play, Arizona wide receiver Devin Hyatt crashed out of bounds and into the cheerleader.

The spirit squad member then impressively got up faster than the freshman player despite his protective gear. He then flamboyantly approached Hyatt, gesturing him to get up before waving to the crowd, flexing his biceps and shimmying to the fans’ delight.

‘Male cheerleader built different, Chargers should give him TE snaps,’ one user said on X.

‘@TexasTechFB needs to put him on a scholarship,’ wrote another.

‘That cheerleader is probably twice as strong as the player that ran into him,’ a third suggested.

Despite trailing during the viral moment, the Red Raiders would secure a 28-22 victory late in the game. The result led to jokes about how the cheerleader’s antics inspired Texas Tech’s comeback.

‘Honestly, this is when the game changed,’ said one fan.

‘Notice how we started winning after this,’ a fifth pointed out.

Texas Tech’s Berhen Morton threw 17-for-29 for 214 yards as the Red Raiders moved to 5-1 with the win. Tahj Brooks contributed three touchdowns with a 128-yard performance.

Fans took to social media to praise the spirit squad member for shaking off the collision

On the other hand, Arizona’s Noah Fifita completed 28 of 49 attempts for 301 yards. The Wildcats sit on a 3-2 record after the loss.

Texas Tech will take on Baylor on Oct. 19 while Arizona squares off against BYU on the 12th.
