Major supermarket issues urgent recall of mince pies after they were found to contain GLUE

A range of Tesco Finest mince pies have been removed from sale after tests found the Christmas treats were laced with fragments of dried glue.

A recall notice issued by the supermarket giant said packs of Tesco Finest 6 All Butter Pastry Mince Pies (6-pack) with specific date codes had been withdrawn.

The warning added that there was the ‘possible presence of small pieces of dried glue from the packaging’ in the pies.

The packs affected are those with four best before dates — 4/10, 26/10, 02/11 and 10/11 of this year.

Tesco advises customers who’ve bought the mince pies in question not to eat them, and instead return them to store where they’ll receive a refund.

It comes days after weight loss brand Slimming World issued a major recall on several of their products due to fears they were contaminated with peanuts.

Some 1 in 50 children and 1 in 200 adults in the UK suffer peanut allergies, which can prove fatal if patients come into contact with the allergen.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA), Food Standards Scotland (FSS) and Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) have been working to remove the affected items from shelves.

Tesco has advised anyone who has bought the pies to return them to store for a full refund.

The full list of recalled items are as follows:

Slimming World Burger Pasta – All date codes up to and including BB: 01/05/25

Slimming World Cajun Chicken Pasta – All date codes up to and including BB: 16/11/2025

Slimming World Cajun King Prawn Pasta – All date codes up to and including BB: 25/05/2025

Slimming World Chicken Balti Biryani – All date codes up to and including BB: 22/02/2026

Slimming World King Prawn Bhuna – All date codes up to and including BB: 05/02/2026

Slimming World Lasagne – All date codes up to and including BB: 06/06/2025

Slimming World Naked Katsu Chicken – All date codes up to and including BB: 18/02/2026

Slimming World Pasta Bolognese – All date codes up to and including BB: 19/06/2025

It comes after food business FGS Ingredients Limited — which supplies a number of major food brands — recalled all products they supply to retail or food manufacturers containing mustard, as it contains spice products including curry powders and spice blends from India.
