NATIONAL HIGHWAYS

Drivers were told to allow extra journey time this morning when travelling in and around the area, as the police and other emergency services investigated the incident.

In its latest update, National Highways confirmed that the M4 remained closed westbound between J14 and J15 for recovery and “to treat a fuel spillage following a serious collision”.

Drivers have been instructed to follow the hollow square diversion symbol where they will leave the M4 at J14 and take the first exit on the roundabout to join the A338 for around three miles.

At the A4 mini roundabout, drivers should turn right onto the A4 towards Hungerford avoiding Hungerford town centre.

After a short distance to the next roundabout, they should take the second exit into Charnham Park, turn right onto the B4192 and follow for approximately 13 miles.

This will take them through Aldbourne to the A419 roundabout. From here, they should take the first exit and join the A419, before continuing to rejoin the M4 westbound at J15.
