Warrington Wolves are changing the name of their ground to honour world darts champion Luke Littler.

For the Super League game against Catalans Dragons on Friday, 21 February, it will be called the Luke Littler Stadium before reverting back to the Halliwell Jones Stadium afterwards.

It is one of a number of ways the Wolves are marking Littler winning the PDC World Championship at the age of 17 in January.

The Warrington-born star, now 18, is a lifelong fan of the Wire and will lead the team out on to the pitch.

“It’s an absolute honour and I can’t thank the club enough,” Littler told the club website., external

He will also parade his World Championship trophy on the pitch at half-time.

“Luke is a true Warrington fan, and therefore renaming our stadium in his honour for our home opener is a fitting tribute,” said Wolves’ chief executive officer Karl Fitzpatrick.

Manchester United fan Littler has already paraded his trophy at Old Trafford after becoming the youngest ever PDC World Championship winner.
