Luke Littler has admitted he’s got no idea what Have I Got News for You is all about – despite his face featuring on every episode.

The teenager has enjoyed a stunning rise to prominence over the past 12 months, ever since taking part in the World Darts Championship.

Littler made the final of that competition at the start of the year but was ultimately unable to secure glory, with Luke Humphries lifting the trophy instead.

The youngster will be hoping to avoid a repeat this time around, with the competition due to commence on Sunday.

Few had heard of Littler just 12 months ago.

Yet the 17-year-old is now a household name and, as a result, his face features in the background of every episode of the BBC’s Have I Got News for You.

The programme, which has been running since September 1990, has Littler’s face among other big figures this year – including King Charles, Donald Trump, Keir Starmer, Noel Gallagher and Taylor Swift.

And Littler, per The Sun, has admitted he’s proud despite not ever watching the show.z

One highlight for 2024 was when the 17-year-old beat Humphries to win the Premier League at the first time of asking.

Humphries will be a tough opponent to topple at Alexandra Palace this winter, with the 29-year-old the best player in the world.

Yet Littler’s electrifying displays suggest he’s capable of going one better and adding another trophy to his growing collection.

In an interview with the Telegraph, Littler revealed he would be practicing for an hour-and-a-half during the tournament.

But he also plans to spend some time relaxing on his beloved Xbox as well.

“A lot of sleep, practice, Xbox, chill out. An hour to an-hour-and-a-half [a day] on the board,” he said.

“Keep the arm loose. [But] mostly just chilling… [see] some mates… go out with them sometimes, otherwise just chilling in my bedroom on my own, playing my game, on my phone.”

When asked about advice he’s received from darts icon Phil Taylor, Littler added: “As soon as he walked in, me and my mum were, ‘What is going on?’ Sat down having a meal with Phil Taylor!

“It was good. He was telling me some of the stories on tour, [about] some of the players.

“He was saying, ‘Just keep yourself to yourself.

“The least you interact with people, the harder it is for them. Don’t need to talk to anyone’.”
