  • Luke Littler, 16, plays Luke Humphries in the World Darts Championship final
  • His path to the final has caught the eye of Pat McAfee in the United States
  • DailyMail.com provides all the latest international sports news

Luke Littler is already making waves in the United States, with Pat McAfee excitedly discussing the teenager’s whirlwind rise ahead of the World Darts Championship final on Wednesday.

Littler, 16, has taken the world of darts by storm by reaching the showpiece event in London, beating three world champions and now stands on the brink of history in the final against Luke Humphries.

McAfee made the unlikely step to discuss darts with J.J. Watt, the NFL legend and part-owner of English Premier League team Burnley, on his show on ESPN.

‘I learned of Luke Littler from somebody that sent me a post. Boom!’ McAfee said with a clip appearing of Littler beating Rob Cross to book his place in Wednesday’s final.

‘This was to send him to final of the World Dart Championship at the Alexandra Palace in London. This dude is 16 years old over there, just beating the hell out of this Cross guy!’.

Watt had to ask McAfee which player was 16, before the host continued, over footage of the end of the semifinal: ‘He’s 16! That guy is 16!

‘And whenever you win in front of that rumpus crowd, which we are definitely going to be a part of at some point in our life, you tell Cross good game and Cross wants to suck on his ear a little bit.

‘He says “this 16-year-old is really good, look at this guy” and Littler is like “let me see my family” and he stops him again! Let Littler live, Cross! Let Littler live, Cross!

‘I understand sportsmanship has to be real but I think what the case is that Cross just lost to a 16-year-old in front of everybody and he was like “I just want to let the world know I have massive respect for him, just in case you didn’t see me sucking on his ear first time”.

‘I think that’s what Cross is doing. We appreciate your humility Cross but we know that Luke Littler is a dog. He’s only 16!

‘He was asked about not being able to celebrate with a pint. He’s getting hismelf more vapes, a bottle of Fanta and (in a British accent) kebabs. But Luke Littler is a weapon.’

McAfee shared the clip of him discussing Little on his Twitter, captioning the clip: ‘Luke Littler is an ABSOLUTE DAWG’.

Littler plays Humphries in the final in London on Wednesday. If he wins, he’ll be the youngest ever winner of the tournament and will take home around $630,000 (£500,000) in prizemoney.
