• The MCC had faced criticism over ticket pricing against Sri Lanka this month
  • Only 9,000 fans turned out to watch the fourth day of the Test match
  • Prices had still increased despite a review as England host India next summer

Lord’s have confirmed price increases for England’s men’s Test match against India next summer despite facing criticism after this month’s clash with Sri Lanka.

The venue will host the third Test of the five match series from July 10 to 15 next year.

The Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), who own Lord’s, have confirmed ticket prices for the series and the World Test Championship final.

Adult tickets without a restricted view have been priced between £120-£175 for the first three days of the Test.

The cheapest adult tickets have been priced at £90, which come with a restricted view.

Under-16 tickets with a full view cost between £40-£50, while restricted view prices cost £20.

Day four prices start at £50 for a restricted view ticket, rising to the most expensive at £150. Under-16 tickets on the fourth day of the series are priced at £25.

The price increases come despite Lord’s facing criticism over the cost of tickets for the recent Test against Sri Lanka.

Only 9,000 people turning up to watch England wrap up a Test series win over Sri Lanka earlier this month.

The first three days attracted full houses of 31,000, but the fourth day of England’s 190-run win were played out in front of swathes of empty seats at Lord’s.

Tickets had been priced between £115 to £140 for adults for the fourth day, while under-16 and concession tickets were between £15 to £40.

England’s stand-in captain Ollie Pope had expressed disappointment over the attendance on the fourth day.

‘It was kind of weird. A few of us were strolling in and it was like, “Jeez, it seems quiet”,’ Pope said.

‘It’s a shame it wasn’t a full house because it was obviously a good day’s play.’

Tickets on day four against India have been given a lower price point following the criticism

The MCC had it they would review pricing for Lord’s Tests after their second match of the summer failed to emulate the first four days selling out against West Indies in July.

MCC chief executive Guy Lavender had partly attributed England’s Bazball style of pushing the game forward quickly for fans’ reluctance to plan to attend on day four.

The organisation said the lower prices of day four tickets, compared to the opening three days, has been a consequence of the review.

The MCC has also confirmed ticket prices for the World Test Championship final will range between £70-130 for adults, while Under-16 tickets will cost from £20-£50.

England women’s One Day International against India at Lord’s have seen adult tickets priced between £25 to £45.
