Singer Lily Allen has checked into an £8,000-per-week trauma treatment centre in the US following the breakdown of her marriage to Stranger Things actor David Harbour, 49.

The 39-year-old star made the decision amid growing mental health struggles and admission she was “spiralling and spiralling”.

Sources close to the singer revealed she was “close to a nervous breakdown” after discovering her husband had been using the ultra exclusive celebrity dating app Raya in December – the same dating app where they initially met in 2019.

They told the Mail on Sunday: “It was very painful for Lily to return home. David used to be her saviour and now he’s a trigger for her.”

Allen reportedly felt distressed by the thought of her estranged husband being elsewhere in New York City with another woman.

“Lily settled her kids back into the family home and took them to school for their new term, then flew herself straight to rehab,” the source added. “She went a day earlier than intended as she felt wobbly and desperate to escape.”

At the residential retreat, Allen will participate in intensive group counselling sessions and one-on-one therapy to help “unpack” her emotions.

The singer has surrendered her mobile phone and will be isolated from the outside world during her stay.

The programme includes a focus on healthy eating and countryside walks as part of the recovery process.

“She wants to make sure she’s feeling physically well again so she can be there for her daughters as the best mother she can be,” another source revealed.

Speaking on her BBC podcast Miss Me?, Allen recently admitted: “I’m really not in a good place”.

“I know I’ve been talking about it for months, but I’ve been spiralling and spiralling and spiralling, and it’s got out of control. I’ve tried,” she continued.

Allen conceded that she could no longer concentrate on “anything except the pain I’m going through”.

Allen firmly denied any speculation about drug rehabilitation, stating: “There will be speculation because of the amount of time I’m going to be taking away that I’m going to drug rehab – I’ve not, I’ve not relapsed.”

In an earlier edition of her podcast, the singer vowed to be “less of a narcissist” and “get her head straight” in 2025.

Allen has now temporarily stepped away from her podcast while co-host Miquita Oliver will “drive this ship” and “wait for the captain to return”.

Despite their separation, Allen and Harbour allegedly communicated briefly last week to arrange childcare for his stepdaughters Ethel, 11, and Marnie, 13, during her treatment.

The actor remains close to the girls, who reportedly “dote on him” and are largely unaware of the situation between their mother and stepfather.

The children will stay in their Brooklyn family home under Harbour’s care while Allen undergoes treatment.

Harbour was spotted recently in New York with his Black Widow co-star and close friend Scarlett Johansson.
