The recall has been made as it contains sulphites not stated on the packaging.

This can have extreme side effects in some cases.

The affected batches have been removed from shelves and customers with an intolerance should not eat them.

Lidl stated: “Lidl GB is recalling the above-mentioned product due to the potential presence of Sulphur Dioxide.

“If you have bought the above product and have an allergy or intolerance to Sulphur Dioxide, we advise you not to eat it.

“Customers are asked to return this product to the nearest store where a full refund will be given.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your cooperation.

“For further information, contact Customer Care on customer.care@lidl.co.uk or 0203 966 5566.”

In very rare cases, sulfites can cause a severe allergic reaction. Symptoms can include hives, a fast heartbeat, wheezing, dizziness, sickness and a chest cough, according to Anaphylaxis UK.

Food items can be pulled from UK supermarkets when a possible health risk because apparent.
