Royal Biographer Angela Levin has reassured that King Charles is a “very healthy man”, after Buckingham Palace issued an unexpected health update for the Monarch.

His Majesty is set to be admitted into hospital next week, after seeking treatment for an enlarged prostate.

The Palace has confirmed that he will undergo a “corrective procedure” in hospital, as part of his prostate treatment.

Buckingham Palace also state that the King’s condition is “benign”.

In a formal statement issued this afternoon, the Palace told the media: “In common with thousands of men each year, The King has sought treatment for an enlarged prostate.

“His Majesty’s condition is benign and he will attend hospital next week for a corrective procedure. The King’s public engagements will be postponed for a short period of recuperation.”

Speaking to GB News, biographer Angela Levin highlighted a sense of “openness” from the Royal Family, as it was also announced today that Princess Kate has been admitted to hospital for “planned abdominal surgery”.

Kensington Palace confirmed that the Princess of Wales’ surgery had been successful.

Discussing the King’s latest announcement, Levin suggested the statement could be King Charles “encouraging men to see their doctor if they’re concerned in any way, and be properly looked after before it gets dangerous.”

Levin added: “He’s a very healthy man. He eats well, he has lots of exercise and he will be back very soon, I’m sure.”

Host Martin Daubney praised the King’s open announcement, admitting: “To be so open about things like this, that’s a really, really noble thing to do.

“To put your own mortality out there, to put your own health out there, and to encourage the rest of us to think about our own situations.”

Levin suggested both the King and Buckingham Palace made the statement out of “relief” that the condition was found to be benign.

Levin told Martin: “Many men can have cancer of the prostate, and they wouldn’t have announced it that way if it was.

“They’re probably very relieved that he has been told that it’s not serious and there’s no cancer. And so he feels comfortable to be able to say it.”
