A legendary music band have confirmed there will be strict rules in place ahead of their Manchester show tonight.

Post-punk band The The, who released their first studio album in 25 years earlier this month, will perform at the O2 Apollo this evening (September 30) as part of their Ensouled World Tour.

Those going to the sold out gig have been informed that the show will run a little differently to other concerts in that there will be no support act and the band will instead perform two different sets – designed with ‘listening’ and ‘dancing’ in mind.

The band, who released their debut album Soul Mining in 1983, have said they will take to the stage at 8pm with an intermission separating the two different sets, which will see them play their new album Ensoulment in its entirety followed by a retrospective set of classic hits.

In a statement, The The, who are fronted by Matt Johnson, said: “The band are performing two sets: Ensoulment (the ‘listening’ set) and Retrospect (the ‘dancing’ set) with a short intermission in-between. Please ensure you arrive at the venue with enough time to allow for security procedures, visit the bar, and use facilities if you so wish.”

Venue staff for the O2 Apollo have also confirmed that, alongside normal security measures already in place, the band have requested that attendees avoid using their phones with a strict warning in place for anyone caught filming the show.

The statement continued: “The band requests that you keep your phones in your pockets at all times and enjoy the concert through your own eyes and ears, rather than through a screen.

“Security is tasked with deterring continuous offenders and anyone attempting to record the show will be asked to leave.”

Following the Manchester gig tonight, the band will perform at London’s Brixton Academy on Tuesday (October 1) before heading out on the US leg of the Ensouled World Tour later this month.
