Lady Louise Windsor’s boyfriend skipped Christmas with the Royal Family, despite the Meghan Markle rule still standing.
The 21-year-old royal, who is 16th in line to the throne, is in a relationship with fellow student Felix da Silva-Clamp.
It is believed that Lady Louise and Silva-Clamp struck up a friendship when they were cast in the first student-written play to be performed at the Byre Theatre at the University of St Andrews.
The pair have been forging a strong bond over the past two years, with Silva-Clamp even travelling down to the Sandringham Estate to see Louise at her driving competition in June, where she won a silver medal.

If the couple go the distance they will follow in the footsteps of Prince William and Princess Kate, who also met when they were students at St Andrews.
Silva-Clamp appeared to get on well with Lady Louise’s parents, beaming as he chatted to the Duchess of Edinburgh earlier this year.
Many royal commentators and fans wondered if the young man would appear by Lady Louise’s side for Christmas with the Royal Family.
In 2017, Queen Elizabeth II bent the rules to allow Meghan Markle, Prince Harry’s then-fiancee, to join the Duke of Sussex at Sandringham for Christmas.

The Duchess of Sussex made history as the first non-married partner of a royal to join the Firm on the Norfolk Estate.
This was followed by Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi in 2019, who travelled to Sandringham for Christmas just one year before he married Princess Beatrice.
However, Lady Louise’s boyfriend was nowhere to be seen at Sandringham this year, with the 21-year-old instead walking beside her parents, Prince Edward and Sophie, and her brother, James, Earl of Wessex.
She wore a £95 pink coat from Lipsy, available to buy at Next.
She paired these with £29.99 block heels from Raid, as well as a £445 grey beret from Jane Taylor London.
Despite Louise celebrating Christmas at Sandringham without her boyfriend, Sam Chatto was, in fact, accompanied by his partner of three years, Eleanor Ekserdjian.
Chatto, 28, is the grandson of the late Princess Margaret.
King Charles followed the example of his late mother, Queen Elizabeth II, who permitted Meghan to join the festive gathering in 2017.
