King Frederik and Queen Mary will be reunited with their eldest son in an emotional family reunion.
Crown Prince Christian will return home for Christmas from East Africa, where he is spending part of his gap year.
The 19-year-old Danish royal left home for his gap year on September 4 this year.
The palace announced that the Crown Prince will return home in December following his day-to-day work of running of two farms in East Africa.

The heir to the Danish throne celebrated his 19th birthday on October 15 whilst he was in Africa.
The palace shared a social media post of Christian smiling in front of a spectacular sunset and river.
The caption read: “His Royal Highness the Crown Prince turns 19 today.
“The Crown Prince is currently staying in East Africa and is therefore celebrating the day under warmer skies.”
This year will be the King and Queen’s first time as monarchs during Christmas, after Frederik ascended the throne in January following Queen Margrethe’s shock abdication.
They are likely to spend the day at Marselisborg Palace in Aarhus, Jutland.
Christian is expected to follow in his father’s footsteps and undergo military training at some stage.
King Frederik and Queen Mary are also parents to Princess Isabella, 17, and 13-year-old twins, Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine.

Despite originally remaining silent, the Danish Royal Family later released a short statement to the Danish publication B.T.
They said they “do not comment on rumours or insinuations”.
King Frederik and Queen Mary both personally stayed silent about the allegations.
