King Charles is “very worried” about the Princess of Wales following her abdominal surgery, a royal author has claimed.

Princess Kate underwent the significant operation on January 16th, Kensington Palace confirmed.

The royal is expected to spend the next week at The London Clinic before returning home to recuperate.

Robert Hardman, who wrote the recently released Charles III biography, claimed the King will want Kate to take time away from royal duties over the coming months.

Hardman said: “He’s a huge fan of hers. He thinks she’s a great asset.

“He’ll be more worried than anyone other than Prince William about her.

“She’s fit, she’s young and she’s out of action for three months.

That’s a cause for concern, not alarm, but he’ll definitely be taking the view ‘For God’s sake don’t make her feel she’s got to come back to duties any sooner than she feels she needs to.’

“I don’t think there’s anyone who wants to put any kind of pressure on her.”

It is expected that the Princess of Wales will then spend the next two to three months recovering from the surgery.

It is understood that the condition is not cancerous.

Kate’s return to working royal duties will depend on medical advice but it is not expected until after Easter.

King Charles is also set to undergo an operation this week.
