King Charles has stepped out just days before embarking on a royal tour, while Queen Camilla decided to stay home.
The King, 75, attended a reception for international business leaders to showcase the UK as a destination for investment, following the Government’s International Investment Summit.
The reception, hosted by the Government on Monday, marked the conclusion of the International Investment Summit that took place earlier in the day.
The summit brought together high-profile investors, business representatives and leaders for a programme of speeches and discussions designed to increase investment and growth.
On arrival at St Paul’s, the King, accompanied by Prime Minister Keir Starmer, met with guests from industries including technology, energy and the performing arts, who reflected the range of investment opportunities across the UK.
Sir Elton John, a close friend of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, is expected to perform at the reception this evening.
The singer performed at the Sussexes’ wedding reception at St George’s Hall in Windsor Castle back in 2018.
He was also a close friend of Princess Diana and released a Candle In The Wind after her death.

Queen Camilla, 77, did not attend tonight’s reception at St Paul’s Cathedral.
This comes just a few days before the King and Queen are expected to fly to Australia to start their royal tour.
The tour will include a royal visit to Australia, a State Visit to Samoa and attendance at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) 2024.
The King’s visit to Australia will be His Majesty’s first to a realm as monarch, whilst the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Samoa is the first Charles will attend as Head of the Commonwealth.

In both countries, Their Majesties’ engagements will focus on themes designed to celebrate the best of Australia and Samoa, as well as reflect aspects of the King and Queen’s work.
A source previously told The Daily Beast: “[Queen Camilla didn’t particularly want him to go to Australia, and she will be encouraging him to take it easy once he gets back—never an easy task.”
It comes as the King is expected to skip the annual COP conference in Baku, Azerbaijan later this year to focus on his cancer treatment.
