King Charles has made an emotional tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth II to mark Mother’s Day.

The King posted a black and white photograph of himself with the late Queen on the Royal Family’s official Twitter/X page to mark the special occasion.

In the post, the King wished all mothers a peaceful Mother’s Day and expressed how he is missing his own mother.

He wrote: “Wishing all Mothers, and those who are missing their Mums today, a peaceful Mothering Sunday.”

At the end of the message the monarch added a pink flower emoji and a picture of Charles kissing his mother’s hand during a polo match.

The photograph was taken in July 1985 after the Queen presented her eldest son with a prize at the sporting event.

Queen Elizabeth II passed away at 96-years-old on September 8, 2022, after reigning for over 70 years.

Following his mother’s death, Charles addressed the nation in a televised, heartfelt speech.

He began: “I speak to you today with feelings of profound sorrow.

“Throughout her life, Her Majesty The Queen – my beloved Mother – was an inspiration and example to me and to all my family, and we owe her the most heartfelt debt any family can owe to their mother; for her love, affection, guidance, understanding and example.”

He also acknowledged that as monarch it would “no longer be possible for me to give so much of my time and energies to the charities and issues for which I care so deeply.”

Finally, Charles remembered his late father during the speech saying: “And to my darling Mama, as you begin your last great journey to join my dear late Papa, I want simply to say this: thank you.

“Thank you for your love and devotion to our family and to the family of nations you have served so diligently all these years.”

The Royal Family also celebrated Mother’s Day by releasing the first image of Princess Kate since her operation.

The photograph, which was taken by Prince William, shows the princess smiling into the camera surrounded by her three children.

The princess also thanked the public for their kind support throughout her recovery following an abdominal operation.

“Wishing everyone a Happy Mother’s Day. C”

The King also marked his youngest brother Prince Edward’s birthday today by appointing him to the Order of the Thistle.

Buckingham Palace celebrated the occasion by releasing four new adorable images of the Duke of Edinburgh with his two dogs and a puppy.
