King Charles was all smiles during his meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner, after they teamed up for a special event.
The monarch met with representatives from the Scottish Violence Reduction Unit (SVRU), The King’s Foundation and The King’s Trust to discuss ways on how to tackle all forms of violent behaviour.
During the meeting at Dumfries House in Ayrshire, Charles, 75, heard reflection on how to identify the root causes of violence and how support can be increased for young people to stop them falling into a pattern of crime.
Alongside the King, sat Rayner, 44, Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, and the pair looked chummy as Charles was left in stitches in response to something the Deputy PM said.
In another instance, the 75-year-old appeared to whisper something to Rayner, who responded with a big grin.
The pair were also told about the SVRU’s experience of using a public health approach to identify, understand and address the underlying causes of violence.
The organisation is made up of police officers, civilian police staff, and people who are experts by experience. They use data to analyse violence and try to understand the causes, offering evidence-based solutions.
On the panel for the discussion was Reece Hayes, who was named The Prince’s Trust Scotland Young Ambassador of the Year and the Trust’s Young Achiever in 2020.

He was awarded the honour for devoting his life to helping others, after overcoming a traumatic childhood and mental health problems to make his livelihood.
After the discussion, the King and Rayner went outside to join a woodland activity with young people and children which had been organised by The King’s Trust.
Today’s meeting followed a King’s Trust discussion held in July on the same topic, which saw Sir Keir Starmer and Idris Elba attend.
The King is gradually easing himself back into public duties, following a summer in Balmoral.

Yesterday, he visited a naval base where he met serving submariners at the Royal Naval Armaments Depot (RNAD) at Coulport, part of HM Naval Base Clyde.
It is the first time that Charles visited the base as head of the armed forces.
Commodore Paul Dunn OBE, of the Submarine Service, said: “His Majesty’s visit, his first here as commander-in-chief of the British armed forces, acknowledges the valuable service of our submariners.
“The Royal Navy’s unbroken 55-year record of continuous at sea deterrence is a tremendous source of pride, showcasing the skill, professionalism and dedication of our defence enterprise.
“This remarkable national endeavour, entrusted to us since 1969, has seen our submariners and their families make significant sacrifices in the defence of our country.”
