King Charles brushes off race row as he jokes ‘he’s alright’ despite palace legal action plans

King Charles has brushed off the race row enveloping Buckingham Palace after two senior royals were named as having raised “concerns” about Archie’s skin colour on British television.

The senior royals allegedly involved in the scandal were named in a Dutch version of royal commentator Omid Scobie’s new book Endgame, after an “error”.

Speaking later on in the day, Piers Morgan then named the royals in question while speaking on his Talk TV show.

Charles, who recently landed in Dubai as he is set to provide a keynote speech at the Cop28 climate conference, appeared to brush off the row when quizzed by the Nigerian president.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu simply asked how he was, to which the king replied: “I’m all right very much, just about”.

He added: “Having had a rather ancient birthday recently recovering from the shock of that”.

However, according to Mail Online, Buckingham Palace is understood to be “considering all options”, including legal action over the accusations in Endgame.

Allegations of racism were first brought to light during her interview with Oprah in 2021 but did not name those involved over fears it would “damage” the Firm.

According to the Duchess of Sussex, there were “several conversations” with the Royal Family about “how dark” Archie’s skin would be.

Royal commentators have condemned Morgan over the decision to name the royals, branding it the “wrong thing to do” with sources close to the Firm telling the Mirror that the palace was in “utter dismay” after the names were released to the public.

Morgan argued that the release of the names would enable the British public to have a “more open debate about this whole farrago”.

He added: “Because I don’t believe any racist comments were ever made by any of the Royal Family, and until there is actual evidence of those comments being made, I will never believe it.

“But now we can start the process of finding out if they ever got uttered, what the context was, and whether there was any racial intent at all – like I say, I don’t believe there was.”

Two members of the Royal Family have been named as the ‘royal racists’ in a Dutch translation of Omid Scobie’s book

Royal commentator Phil Dampier told Mail Online that Buckingham Palace would be “scratching their heads” over the allegations.

He added: “The fact these names have been out on the internet in this global world we live in, you can find out the names is farcical and therefore I can understand why Piers has done this.

“But whether it was a wise thing to do only time will tell.

“I don’t believe for one moment that either of the two people that have been named are racists.”
