Keir Starmer dealt hammer-blow as GB News’s Christopher Hope reacts to shock General Election verdict: ‘Complete disaster’

Sir Keir Starmer has been dealt a humiliating blow with his party being projected to fall to fifth place at the next General Election.

Speaking to presenter Martin Daubney, GB News Political Editor Christopher Hope has given his devastating verdict on the latest ratings.

A YouGov poll for The Times found that a mere 17 per cent of the electorate would support Labour if they were heading to the polls today.

To make matters worse for the party, the investigation revealed that half of all voters who voted Labour in 2024 have abandoned Sir Keir’s gang.

While support for Labour dwindles, the Green Party has witnessed its highest ever surge (16 per cent) after Zack Polanski took over the party.

Agreeing with Martin that it makes “terrible” reading for the Prime Minister, Christopher ran through the numbers, with Labour, the Tories, the Greens and the Liberal Democrats falling within two points of one another.

Meanwhile, Nigel Farage’s Reform UK is leading the charge with 27 per cent.

He explained: “So four of those five parties are two points apart.

“Were Labour to drop three points, they’d be the fifth most popular party in the country and they’re the party in power.

“A complete disaster. What’s happening here?

“It looks like Labour is being attacked by the main parties around it, by Reform.”

The data was subsequently translated into seats by the pollsters at Electoral Calculus, giving “incredible numbers”, Martin added.

Reform could be put on a majority of 60 with a whopping 355 seats, with the Lib Dems on 72 and Labour taking a mammoth hit, plummeting to 68 seats.

“Labour is haemorrhaging support to the Greens, Reform and Lib Dems. It’s like one of those wildlife films.

“When you get a bait ball of a small fish being attacked aggressively by tuna from all sides, and in the end you left with a few fish heads and that’s all that’s left.”

Martin added that the Prime Minister is projected to lose his seat of Holborn and St Pancras in central London.

The Prime Minister would lose his seat to the Green Party, as would David Lammy, Lucy Powell and Diane Abbott.

“As you said, Chris, this unholy double whammy of being attacked from both the left and the right”, said Martin.

“I can’t think when Labour lost over in St Pancras, of course, Sir Keir Starmer’s constituency.”

Giving his take on the numbers, he said: “There is a volatility, a dissatisfaction with the political establishment – the likes of which we’ve never seen.

“Both the Labour Party and the Conservative Party being seemingly outmoded on the left and on the right by Reform and the Greens.

“We have entered five-party politics.”
