Princess Kate’s Wimbledon appearance is a “positive indication for the future”, a royal commentator exclusively told GB News.

The Princess of Wales received a standing ovation from the packed Wimbledon crowd last weekend.

The mother-of-three’s appearance marked her second official public outing since being diagnosed with cancer.

The princess, 42, had not been seen in public for a month after making her long-awaited return at Trooping the Colour on June 15.

The royal watched Carlos Alcaraz win the men’s singles final for the second year in a row against Novak Djokovic, alongside her daughter Princess Charlotte and her sister Pippa Middleton.

Kate missed Saturday’s women’s singles final between Barbora Krejčíková and Jasmine Paolini.

The princess was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year and stepped back from all royal duties to focus on her health.

Kate’s attendance at Trooping the Colour marked her first public appearance in six months and the only engagement she had undertaken following her cancer diagnosis.

However, the princess said she hoped to be present at two or three additional engagements this summer.

Richard Fitzwilliams, a royal commentator, spoke exclusively to GB News about Kate’s triumphant return to Centre Court.

He said: “It was charming and joyous. The standing ovation was so well deserved, and she looked wonderfully well with the poise and beauty we’ve always associated with her.

“It was lovely to see Charlotte and her sister Pippa.

“No doubt it’s been a very big struggle, because, of course, normally she’d have come on both days and presented the prizes on both occasions for the women’s final, but it’s a huge step forward.

“She did hint she would attend events in the summer, to what extent she may appear in future we don’t know.

“It seems to be going well, and it’s a positive indication, a very positive indication. It’s wonderful to see her and I think everyone agreed.”
