Princess Kate and Prince William remain “incredibly kind people” despite a “brutal” year for the royals, according to a friend of the couple.
Prince William described 2024 as “brutal” and “the hardest year” in his life as both his wife, Princess Kate, and father, King Charles, announced they were diagnosed with cancer earlier this year.
A friend of the couple said: “Empathy and compassion are so important to the Prince and Princess of Wales.
They told HELLO!: “They’re incredibly kind people who really care about the work they do.”

The Prince and Princess of Wales have been voted the kindest Royal Family members by two new polls from the magazine.
A royal source told the publication: “Behind the scenes, there are countless letters, messages, visits, phone calls that nobody knows about.
“Even in this toughest of years, this focus on helping others does not stop.”
The parents of three have previously said that they strive to teach kindness and empathy to their children Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, nine, and Prince Louis, six.

William said: “I think we could do with some more empathetic leadership around the world.
“That’s what I’m trying to bring, that’s what Catherine is trying to bring as well.”
Princess Kate made an unscheduled appearance at an investiture ceremony at Windsor Castle, where William, 42, was being photographed by Liz Hatton, 17, who has terminal cancer.
Liz recalled the moment both the Prince and Princess of Wales turned up as a “massive shock”.
She said: “Talking to them was amazing because it was like talking to anyone, like just a normal person. There was no sort of grandeur about them, there was just humanity and kindness.”
The Prince of Wales issued a candid health update on Princess Kate and King Charles last week.
The Prince of Wales said: “It’s been dreadful. It’s probably been the hardest year in my life. So, trying to get through everything else and keep everything on track has been really difficult.
“But I’m so proud of my wife, I’m proud of my father, for handling the things that they have done. But from a personal family point of view, it’s been, yeah, it’s been brutal.”
