Princess Kate and Prince William have issued a new statement ahead of the start of the Paralympics.

The Prince and Princess of Wales are both massive sports fans and often send their public support to Team GB athletes.

The opening ceremony for the Paralympics will take place in Paris tonight ahead of the competition starting on Thursday.

The royal couple wrote on X: “Looking forward to another few weeks of incredible sport! Wishing the very best of luck to our @ParalympicsGB athletes and all those competing at #Paris2024. W & C.”

It comes just weeks after the Prince and Princess of Wales shared a video congratulating Team GB athletes following the conclusion of the Olympics.

Princess Kate said: “From all of us watching at home, congratulations to team GB!”

Prince William added: “Well done on all you’ve achieved. You’ve been an inspiration to us all.”

The Prince and Princess of Wales shared the full video which included their own message and those from other celebrities on their social media account.

They wrote as a caption to the video: “Well done @TeamGB, what an incredible journey!

“Every athlete showed immense dedication, heart and passion. You made us all so proud!

“Here’s to celebrating every triumph at @Paris2024 and looking forward to more from @ParalympicsGB later in the summer”.

Earlier this week, the Prince of Wales paid tribute to former England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson following his death.

Eriksson died aged 76 after becoming terminally ill with pancreatic cancer.

William wrote on social media following the news: “Sad to hear about the passing of Sven-Göran Eriksson.

“I met him several times as England manager and was always struck by his charisma and passion for the game.

“My thoughts are with his family and friends. A true gentleman of the game. W.”
