Jess Phillips delivered a blunt message on GB News to Andrew Tate ahead of announcing the Government’s new strategy to tackle violence against women and girls (VAWG).

Labour vowed to roll out the flagship strategy to halve gendered violence after research revealed 40 per cent of young men positively view the self-proclaimed misogynist.

Asked what she would say to the social media influencer, who has been accused of rape and trafficking, Andrew Tate, the Labour MP said: “What I would say to Andrew Tate is that there are a number of warrants out for your arrest for crimes of violence and abuse.

“But Andrew Tate is just one in a long line of angry men who, I have to say, as the mother of sons, I don’t think he’s got my son’s best interests at heart.

“We need to make sure that the Government is providing context for young boys in schools, so that when they hear horrible, violent, misogynistic things that that we can make sure that that doesn’t lead young men to a life of criminality.”

In September, it was announced Tate would not face any criminal charges after four women launched a civil case against him.

The women accused the social media influencer of sexual violence while his lawyers told a previous court hearing there was “total denial of wrongdoing”.

The 39-year-old still remains under criminal investigation across the globe in Romania and the US, accused of rape and trafficking.

Following the research, the UK Government has vowed to combat “toxic” commentary around women and girls, promising to tackle the root cause of the matter before it materialises later in life.

Boys will be pushed away from “toxic” misogynistic influencers under the £20million scheme, with specialist training being doled out to teachers.

They will be taught to discuss issues from sexual consent to the dangers of sharing intimate images with others under the new plan.

She told GB News’ Political Editor Christopher Hope: “What the Government is announcing today is a prevention program for young men and boys who show signs of sexually harmful behaviours.

“What teachers and parents and children themselves tell me is things like the proliferation of violent online pornography has led to some dangerous attitudes.

“So what we are announcing today will provide evidence based programmes that goes into schools and reacts to the school’s needs, if young men are showing those sorts of behaviours or are in abusive relationships themselves.”

A new helpline will be established so teens can seek help with their behaviour in relationships after Mrs Phillips said she was “sick” of putting “nicer plasters onto ever-growing scars”.

“One in eight women were victims of violence against women and girls last year and so I’m a bit sick, I have to say, as somebody who’s campaigned on this for many years of just trying to put nicer plasters onto ever growing scars, and so we’ve got to – the Government is really, really focused on the prevention,” she told Times Radio.

In response to the announcement, Dame Nicole Jacobs, who serves as the domestic abuse commissioner for England and Wales, Dame Nicole Jacobs, claimed the promises are insufficient.

She said: “Today’s strategy rightly recognises the scale of this challenge and the need to address the misogynistic attitudes that underpin it, but the level of investment to achieve this falls seriously short.”

The schools which will partake in the pilot scheme will be announced next year.

The Government is aiming to establish its commitments in every school up and down the nation by 2029.
