Jess Phillips has told GB News she “absolutely” supports the deportation of foreign sex offenders, just days after the Home Secretary admitted that such criminals had been prioritised over the safety of women and girls.

The Safeguarding Minister joined GB News ahead of addressing MPs in the House of Commons this morning to outline her strategy to combat violence against women and girls (VAWG).

One of the strategies includes a prevention programme for men and young boys exhibiting signs of sexual harmful behaviours in a bid to combat the root cause of misogyny.

The announcement has come after Shabana Mahmood claimed the human rights of foreign sex offenders have been prioritised over the safety of women and girls.

As a result, in a new set of sweeping reforms to human rights laws, the Home Secretary vowed to make deportations of foreign sex offenders easier.

GB News’ Political Editor Christopher Hope asked Mrs Phillips whether her strategies to reduce violence against women will target specific demographics, such as white working-class boys or those who were not born in Britain.

The Safeguarding Minister vowed to launch ‘robust rules’ setting out what is expected of men in Britain – ‘whether they were born here or not’

“The Government has granted visas in hundreds of thousands of countries, which have questionable approaches to women,” Christopher started.

“Young men coming from there – should they be targeted by the Government too, and educating them about how to treat women?”

Mrs Phillips said: “When people come to our country, they have to live by our rules.

“And I will lay out some even more robust rules today around what is expected of the men in our country, whether they were born here or not.

“And if you do not live by those rules, you are not welcome in our country.”

When asked whether she would support deporting such offenders, the Labour MP and women’s campaigner said she would “absolutely” support the deportation of those committing sex offences.

“The Government has increased the deportation of foreign national offenders by 12 per cent”, she said.

“In the Home Office I sit laser-focused on the crimes that I focus on to make sure that our our laws alongside the Home Secretary are the most robust they could ever be, with regard to sex offenders, for example.

“For the first time, this Government passed that no sex offender would be entitled to seek asylum in our country. And that is something that is about protecting everybody.”

Shabana Mahmood set out her sweeping asylum overhauls, accelerating deportations and trimming up Britain’s asylum system.

Since, Labour ministers have lauded a revelation earlier this week that the removal of foreign criminals has jumped by 74 per cent under this current Government’s rule.

More than 2,700 foreign national offenders deported under the early removal scheme in the past year a leap from 1,560 in the last year the Tories were in charge, Justice Secretary David Lammy told MPs in the Commons on Wednesday.

The statistics have come after the Government fell under fire for overseeing two migrant sex offenders, who were mistakenly released from two prisons within the space of two weeks.

In October, Ethiopian small boat migrant Hadush Kebatu was eventually deported following his second arrest in Finsbury Park – but not before a national manhunt was launched to locate the sex pest.

Several days later, it was revealed a second manhunt was underway for Brahim Kaddour-Cherif, an Algerian 24-year-old who had overstayed his visa and had been accidentally freed from HMP Wandsworth.

Mr Lammy has since announced an investigation into the scandal.
