Jeremy Clarkson’s eldest daughter Emily, 29, has admitted she’s on the verge of contacting the police following a series of abusive messages she’s received online.

The blogger and author regularly updates her 308k followers on social media about her life but recently sparked controversy when she posed a question to her fans.

After spotting the debate going viral elsewhere on social media, Clarkson asked her followers whether they would rather be stuck in the woods alone with a bear or a man.

Clarkson was shocked to discover that the majority of responses from women that she’d seen online through other channels were in favour of the bear due to statistics about male violence and sexual abuse.

“I just think this is a bit of a wild one because this is now becoming a huge debate online and women are being told what they always are when they acknowledge the existence of male violence… they’re ridiculous, dramatic, lying, exaggerating, wrong,” Clarkson said in her initial video.

She continued: “Look, I don’t personally fancy my chances with a bear but I also frustratingly don’t really fancy my chances with a man either and that’s the tragedy, that’s the point!”

After she shared her thoughts on the debate and put the question to her fanbase, Clarkson soon found herself overwhelmed with misogynistic, sexist and abusive comments.

So much so, she has continued to address the debate in a series of videos and posts in the days since, sharing screenshots of the messages and calling out those who’ve sent her the comments.

A week on and the reception to the social media post appears to have continued to take its toll on the 29-year-old who has now admitted she may have to get the police involved.

Sharing a selfie on Instagram on Thursday morning, the former Top Gear star’s daughter penned: “I tried vlogging the whole day yesterday and it went really well until 4pm and then my day caught fire and was so stressful so that means I looked like a D**K on the train filming myself like a loser for no reason at all.

“It was also supposed to be talking about the bear thing but I’ve decided I might actually contact the police about a couple of the accounts sending messages.

“It all just feels stress and I’m too anxious to post s**t which is ANNOYING.” (sic)

She summed up her current feelings with a follow-up post of a mishap at her home.

“Feel like you can sum us up today by the fact I just opened the kitchen cupboard and one of these glasses is half full with water,” she penned/ “Whose? Why? And since WHEN?”
