The Grand Tour stars Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James have decided to call time on their tenure on the Amazon motoring show.

The trio recently returned from Zimbabwe – which Clarkson teased with some behind-the-scenes snaps – for their latest special and it’s been confirmed to GB News that this will be their last.

An insider claimed to The Sun: “It’s a surprising decision and everyone realises it very much marks the end of an era for the three presenters.

“The Grand Tour is one of Prime Video’s most-watched shows and Jeremy, James and Richard have a devoted following.

“But the guys have made no bones about the fact they’re all advancing in years and they have lots of other projects to pursue.

“They just felt like the time was right and wanted to go out on a high when the show remained popular.”

All three presenters have been working on a range of other shows away from The Grand Tour which have all proved successful.

Clarkson will be back with the third season of his record-breaking series Clarkson’s Farm next year, while May is heading to India for the next instalment in his Our Man In series.

Elsewhere, Hammond recently returned to screens in the third season of his restoration show, Richard Hammond’s Workshop on Discovery+.

The reports led to a number of fans expressing their disappointment on X, formerly Twitter, as they mourned the end of the trio’s stint on the show.

Commentator Kelvin MacKenzie was one who shared his thoughts as he posted: “And so we say farewell to Clarkson, May and Hammond. After 20 years together through Top Gear and for the last 7 years with The Grand Tour, the trio have let it be known they will not be resigning with Amazon Prime and will go their separate ways.

“They have bought great entertainment to millions and will be missed.”

His sentiments were echoed by another fan who commented: “I know there probably are not that many car enthusiasts in my list, but the news of both Top Gear and The Grand Tour ending at the same time kind of hits hard. I grew up on these shows and learned so much about cars as well.”

While another weighed in: “I remember watching the OG top gear I never really watched the grand tour but i wished i did. Thank you Jeremy, James and Richard for making us simile and laugh for 21 years.” (sic)

Amazon declined to provide an official comment when contacted by GB News. The Zimbabwe special will air next year while another special set in Mauritania will be released in early 2024.
