Jeremy Clarkson issues ‘urgent’ planning plea as star attempts big Diddly Squat change amid council rows

Jeremy Clarkson risks another back-and-forth battle with West Oxfordshire County Council after he submitted fresh proposals for an “urgent” new storage barn at Diddly Squat.

The 63-year-old is no stranger to calling on the council in order to gain permission for his plans – although it hasn’t always been a straight-forward exercise.

In Amazon’s hit series Clarkson’s Farm, fans have witnessed firsthand the council put the brakes on plans for a restaurant, track roads, car parks, and farm shop roofs among other issues.

And just last month Clarkson revealed he’d been sent a missive from the council over his plans to plant more trees on his farm.

This time, Clarkson is hoping to be given the green light to build a 118ft x 59ft wide barn at Diddly Squat in Chadlington, near Chipping Norton.

Clarkson has branded the need for the storage barn as “urgent” and the lack of one is reportedly impacting the price he could get for selling his produce.

The application reads, according to Daily Mail: “The current grain store is not of an appropriate design for its purpose and in any case, is too small to support the farm’s arable operations which produces up to six different crops, with four main crops.”

This is the 11th application Clarkson has submitted to the local council since purchasing buying Diddly Squat in 2008.

Clarkson sent the application before Christmas and a resolution is yet to be revealed.

Meanwhile, plans for the barn aren’t the only things to have changed at the farm as Clarkson and partner Lisa Hogan recently had to deal with a heartbreaking loss recently.

Hogan’s beloved horse of 26 years, Bertie, died in the build-up to Christmas leaving both Clarkson’s Farm stars “upset”.

Clarkson’s other half even took to Instagram with a tribute of her own for the animal as she penned: “Farewell my biggest friend.

“Thank you for 26 years of never chucking me off & for being such a beauty.”

Fans of Clarkson’s Farm will be able to catch up with the latest goings-on at Diddly Squat when the series returns for a third season later this year.
