Jasmine Harman has assured fans she and her family are “safe” after sharing an update from the flooded streets of Malaga, Spain, on Tuesday.

At least 62 people are believed to have died in south-eastern Spain after torrential rain caused fatal flash floods in the region.

Spanish King Felipe VI said he is “devastated” by the flooding while more than 1,000 troops have been deployed to help with the rescue operation.

The disaster prompted Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez to tell those affected in a televised address: “All of Spain weeps with all of you. Our absolute priority is to help you… We won’t abandon you.”

On Tuesday afternoon, one person who bore witness to the impact the downpour was having on the region was Harman who’d been visiting the city of Malaga in Andalusia.

In a video shared to her Instagram page, the A Place in the Sun star donned her rain coat before sharing a glimpse at the devastating impact the rain had on the city’s rivers.

A sodden Harman told her followers: “We’ve come to Malaga for the day. It’s a bit wet.”

The 48-year-old then turned her camera around to show the overflowing and fast-paced river below her: “The river looks like it’s about to burst its banks!”

Her surprise and concern were echoed by her family around her who could be heard pointing out that suitcases and other items had been swept up in the current.

Harman remained silent on the social media platform for almost 24 hours before she decided to return to Instagram to address the messages of concern she’d been receiving following her update.

Addressing fans’ worries, Harman said: “Many of you have probably seen the news about the flooding in Spain. Thank you to those who’ve expressed concern.

“We’re all fine, we’re all safe, we haven’t been affected by flooding where we are.

“We were in Malaga yesterday, and the weather was very intense and it’s set to be raining all week.

“But we’re all safe and sound so thank you and I just wanted to say we’re thinking about the people who have been more seriously affected by the flooding.”

Harman appeared to be sheltered and away from the devastating downpour that is set to ravage the country in the coming days.

The A Place in the Sun star permanently upped sticks with her family to Spain earlier this year after spending years helping house-hunters find their dream abodes on the Channel 4 show.

Along with her husband Jon Boast, their daughter Joy, and their son Albion, the family ditched London and the UK for good.

She previously told Hello! about the major move: “It has been a huge decision – a year or more in the making.

“For both of us, it was about making the best life.

“Family is the most important thing and this will give us a much better balance.”
