When hunting for a decent, budget-friendly city break, there are many options to consider.

Looking for a romantic Parisian getaway? Perhaps you’re after a beach stay like Barcelona? Or maybe you want to drink beer in Munich?

The best city breaks have been listed – and one Italian hotspot has been handed the crown.

The Italian city has been crowned as the ‘top trending city’ to visit in 2026 – with flights under £30 and pints from €3 (£2.60).

And the winner is Italy’s fashion capital, Milan.

The city, which is well-known for hosting popular Milan Fashion Week, has come at the top of TimeOut’s list of Europe’s best city breaks for 2026.

A big draw for many Brits, however, will not just be fashion and design – but the price of a pint.

Some of the city’s cheapest bars offer excellent prices, especially given it’s such a popular destination.

Prices begin from just €3 (£2.60) at bars such as Spank, according to MisterGoodBeer.

Plus, cheap flights to Milan start from just £23, according to Skyscanner.

There’s lots more to do in the city too – including excellent restaurants and cafes to visit.

An attraction not to be missed is the Duomo di Milano, the iconic Gothic cathedral that many associate with the image of the city.

You can even climb to the roof for views across the city.

Milan is also home to Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, Italy’s oldest active shopping gallery.

For any shopaholics or fashion afficionados, the city is filled with luxury boutiques and shopping areas to browse at leisure.

Milan’s Teatro alla Scala is a renowned opera house, for fans of music.

If you want to explore museums and galleries, there are plenty to choose from, including the Leonardo da Vinci Museum of Science and Technology.

Or navigate the city’s many neighbourhoods and discover the best of the Italian culture.

The Brera district is an artistic neighborhood with cobblestone streets, boutiques, and the Pinacoteca di Brera art gallery.

Alternatively, explore the Navigli district, famous for its canals and trendy bars.
