There’s a surprising location that boasts stretches of white sandy shores and warm temperatures of around 26°C at all times.

It also happens to be Europe’s largest indoor beach.

Tropical Island Resort in Krausnick, Germany is located inside an impressive hangar that stands 107 metres high and measures 360 metres long.

It’s so big it could fit New York’s Statue of Liberty inside, according to its website.

But instead the structure houses a tropical climate complete with a swimming pool, rainforests and water slides.

Visitors are treated with underfloor heating to keep their feet warm and can still catch a tan despite being inside, due to a UV-permeable membrane, so sun cream is recommended.

The water is heated too, and the South Sea measures 28°C while the lagoon is 32°C.

Visitors can sunbathe on a 200-metre-long sandy beach and explore various attractions.

There are different areas to enjoy including Tropical Waters – home to Germany’s highest water slide tower – and the Tropical Rain Forest.

The rainforest features thousands of plants and hundreds of different species.

For those who want a break from the sun and water, Tropical Village offers the chance to wander around ‘a unique collection of original traditional buildings’.

It boasts buildings from ‘faraway countries’ including Malaysia and Thailand.

Several restaurants and bars offer a variety of cuisines from around the world.

There are four a la carte restaurants in the resort, two snack bars and a lounge amongst other options for food and drink.

Holidaymakers hoping to experience the indoor tropics can bag flights from London to Berlin Brandenburg Airport in February from as little as £35, according to Skyscanner.

Tickets to enter the resort vary depending on the day but the cheapest in February appears to be €41.90 (£36.50).

Tropical Island Resort is open all year round and overnight guests staying on site can have access to the attractions between 6am and 11.59pm.

Day guests are welcome to use the resort between 8am and 11.30pm.

Those hoping to stay overnight have the choice between several accommodation options provided by the resort.

Lodges are available to book as well as tents and holiday homes.
