Weight loss often conjures images of strict diets and hard workouts at the gym – but knowing the right hacks makes the process far easier.

Research led by scientists at University College London earlier this year revealed that people lose more weight when they cook minimally processed food from scratch, rather than ready-made meals.

This gives dieters full licence to adapt recipes to suit their health goals, while highlighting the ingredients they enjoy most.

The TikTok user, who goes by @train_with_Tanna, shared with her followers the meal she never missed while shedding 2st 2lb.

“I love telling people about this meal, I think it is the biggest hack, it has so much protein, I’m just so full after I eat it,” she told her audience.

Her to a lean physique is a protein-packed tuna dish that kept her satisfied throughout her transformation.

The meal that became her daily staple starts with a tin of tuna, which delivers 40 grams of protein on its own.

To create the complete dish, she combines the tuna with either Greek yoghurt or cottage cheese for extra creaminess and protein.

The flavour comes from a mix of rice vinegar, soy sauce and sesame oil, along with garlic and sriracha for a spicy kick. Fresh cucumber adds crunch to round out the meal.

This combination creates a nutrient-dense dish that helps Tanna stay on track without feeling deprived. It is also crucially easy to prepare daily, helping turn healthy eating into an effortless routine.

Nutrition expert Kimmberly Gomer backs up this approach, explaining why whole foods work best for dropping pounds. She told GB News that natural protein sources are the way forward for anyone serious about weight loss.

“These foods include eggs, cottage cheese, beef, lamb, bison, poultry, beans, lentils, etc., in their whole, unprocessed state,” she explained.

“When eating these foods unprocessed, they will be digested and absorbed more easily.”

It’s this natural processing that makes whole proteins particularly effective for sustainable weight loss, rather than relying on manufactured alternatives.

The dietitian had strong words about protein bars, shakes and supplements that many people turn to for convenience.

“I do not recommend any protein bars, shakes or supplements for any of my clients because they tend to stall weight loss,” Gomer explained.

She also noted that manufactured protein products often contain blends of whey, soy, pea and other isolated proteins that can hinder progress.

“When weight loss is the goal, it is never a good idea to use processed foods because the extra additives, chemicals, salt and sugar stimulate the palate and are much easier to overeat,” the expert warned.

Even some cheeses, despite containing protein, can be problematic due to compounds called casomorphins that trigger addictive responses and inflammation.
