Getting nice-looking, wavy hair can be a difficult task for a lot of women. Being able to maintain results that last for a long time can prove an even bigger one.

A YouTuber called Melinda has taken to the platform to share the method she has mastered which gives her great-looking hair that lasts a long time.

Melinda said her routine is: “Perfect to give wavy hair. It’s great if you want long-lasting results. It lasts two to three days without having to refresh it and it also gives tonnes of definition.”

The content creator explained the step-by-step method she follows to get the hairstyle she desires.

The first step for people to adopt once they have come out of the shower and their hair is all wet is to rake their fingers through their hair to get the hair loosened up off the scalp.

Melinda said: “I’ll even flip it to further loosen it up and this just kind of starts the detangling process and just helps my hair and my products apply to my hair a little bit easier.”

The content creator said you should start with a hydrating product, whether that’s a cream or something else.

“I use Umberto Gianni I believe it’s called. Their curl balm is a leave-in conditioner and this is nice and lightweight, especially for wavy hair.

“I don’t particularly like using thicker creams on my hair cause I feel it just kind of weighs it down, making it feel greasy and heavy and this product truly feels like you have no products in your hair.”

After applying the hydrating product to your hair, Melinda said to apply some form of gel as a light holder. She explained the product is a little bit runnier and more watery so the best way to apply the gel is the praying hands method.

She advised: “Just smooth the product over the hair. I start at the ends and then go to the middle section and then I just scrunch it up to my roots. I don’t like to apply the product directly on my roots as it will give me that greasy feeling.

“To scrunch out all the extra water and product, use a t-shirt or in my case a microfiber towel but truly they do the same thing you don’t need to buy a microfiber towel.”

To create the definition of the hair, Melinda uses a mousse or foam product to finish off the routine.

“A mousse or a foam gives so much volume extra definition and extra hold to really make your washday last two and three days. I just scrunch that in until all of the product is visibly worked into my hair.”

There are multiple ways Melinda recommended women dry their hair. An air dry will do the trick but for more curl definition, the content creator recommended using a diffuser.

She said: “I use my diffuser on medium heat and medium speed and I like to use pixie diffusing which is where you put your hair in the bowl of the diffuser while the diffuser is off. Once your hair is up in it, then you turn it on; leave it on for about 30 seconds to a minute and then you turn the diffuser off.

“Take your hair down and then you just repeat the process. I do this in sections. My hair is sectioned in roughly four sections and I repeat this process until my ends are about 30 to 40 per cent dry.”

Melinda said women can use the diffuser to dry all their hair or blow it dry from here but try to avoid creating any frizz.
