It will become easier for Britons to get prescriptions from tomorrow as pharmacies in England have been granted new powers.
Requesting prescriptions and viewing repeat prescriptions can also be done on the NHS app, saving Britons a trip to the doctors.
Those with repeat prescriptions do not need to get an appointment with their GP to view or renew this.
Instead, this can be done using the NHS App for those who are registered.
Britons can pick up medication without needing to visit their GP

To view and manage prescriptions, go to the homepage or ‘Your Health’.
Select ‘View and manage prescriptions’ where all confirmed prescriptions should appear.
Confirmed prescriptions will be shown once approved by a healthcare professional.
Britons will be able to view the medicines or devices approved, see details of who prescribed them, and get details of the nominated pharmacy or a barcode for those without a nominated pharmacy.
This can be used to pick up confirmed medications in pharmacies.
To get a repeat prescription, Britons must be logged in to their account and go to the homepage or ‘Services’. Select ‘request repeat prescription’.
This is one of the ways Britons can get medication without needing an appointment with their GP.
Pharmacies in England have been granted new powers meaning they can provide care for seven conditions for the first time without the need of a GP, starting from tomorrow.

Teatments can now be given for the following conditions without the need of a doctor: acute otitis media, impetigo, infected insect bites, shingles, sinusitis, sore throat and uncomplicated urinary tract infections.
The service will be available in pharmacies that have opted in.
Britons can take advantage of the new service by visiting one of these pharmacies or by having a video consultation.
As well as having more powers, pharmacy blood pressure checking and contraception services will expand across the country.
