While your age is something to be proud of, there’s nothing wrong with wanting to look a little younger than your years.
A skin expert and facialist spoke exclusively to GB News about how women can look “10 years younger” by improving their skin. She advised ladies to increase their intake of potassium and magnesium-rich drinks.
Abi Oleck stated: “We can all achieve a more youthful glow through a combination of good skin care practices, active ingredients, a balanced lifestyle, and a holistic approach to well-being.
“First and foremost, hydration is key. Well-hydrated skin appears plumper and more youthful.

“Incorporating electrolytes into your routine, such as those found in potassium and magnesium-rich drinks, can help your body retain the hydration your skin needs to thrive. This will help reduce puffiness and give your skin that healthy, radiant look we all desire.”
Orange juice, tomato juice, apricot juice, grapefruit juice, carrot juice, coconut water and milk are all potassium-rich drinks. Most fruits and vegetables also contain potassium, particularly bananas, avocados, leafy greens, dried fruit and nuts.
As for magnesium-rich drinks, skin enthusiasts can try orange juice, cherry juice, watermelon juice and naturally sparkling water. Magnesium-rich foods include green leafy vegetables, nuts, seeds, whole grains and dark chocolate.
The experts at Vinmec International Hospital said: “Potassium helps facilitate such as water pathways in the skin to ensure moisture balance and strengthen the skin barrier by reorganizing the different lipid structures in the skin.
“Magnesium helps make adenosine triphosphate, which is used by cells as an energy source. As a result, this electrolyte helps to energise the skin. In addition to helping to improve the skin’s moisture level, this mineral also enhances the process of shedding the natural old layer of the skin.” However, before changing your diet it’s important to consult your GP.
Abi also recommended that women revamp their skin care routines if they want to drop a decade. She said: “As we age, our skin loses its ability to maintain moisture naturally, which is why an oil-based cleanser or cleansing balm is a must.
“It gently removes makeup and impurities while preserving your skin’s natural oils, keeping it soft and supple.
“Use a hydrating spray mist and whilst the skin is still damp, apply a rich, nourishing cream or facial oil to lock in hydration and lipids.
“These steps will give the appearance of smoother fine lines and create that dewy, youthful glow we all love.
“Ice therapy is another wonderful technique you can easily incorporate into your routine. Using ice globes or cold rollers will reduce puffiness, tighten your skin, and enhance circulation, giving you a fresh, revitalised look – perfect for those early mornings.”
The expert also recommended trying facial massage to look “10 years younger” – and this can be done anytime, anywhere.

The skin guru said: “There are simple at-home techniques you can try. Use your fingertips in gentle upward motions to boost circulation or try the ‘piano tapping’ technique to stimulate blood flow.
“Incorporating tools like gua sha or jade rollers can further reduce puffiness and promote a natural glow.”
She also stressed the importance of wearing SPF, which has been hailed as the “unsung hero” in anti-ageing.
To protect you from “ageing UV rays”, the expert instructed women to apply it “daily” – not just when it’s sunny outside.
Abi concluded: “Lastly, don’t forget the power of a balanced diet. Following the 80-20 rule and eating skin-friendly foods most of the time will fuel your skin’s vitality.”
For anti-ageing results in seconds, women can also look to their makeup routines. A makeup artist warned women that their concealer could be making them look 10 years older.
A former model also revealed that she never leaves the house without completing two eye makeup tasks.
