Love Island is back with more grafting, icks and bombshells (we’re looking at you, Joey Essex!) than ever before. But, while we wait patiently for host Maya Jama to serve more looks on screen, we have a question: How much does she get paid?
The 29-year-old has been presenting the ITV dating series for a year (yes, just a year!) and in that short amount of time, she’s hosted four seasons including Love Island Games and Love Island All Stars. So, how much is Maya Jama’s Love Island salary? Here’s what we know.
How much is Maya Jama’s Love Island salary?
Maya began hosting Love Island last year and her first season was when Sanam Harrinanan and Kai Fagan took home the winning spot and £50,000.
While her salary has not been revealed to the public meaning we can’t know the number for sure, we do know that it was reported that former host Laura Whitmore earned £600,000 to present the dating show.
Yet, in a later Instagram Story, Laura denied the claim and wrote wrote: “£744 a second! I feel sorry for whoever was made attempt the ridiculous maths based on nothing but speculation [sic],” before joking: “Lads I’ve made 10k whilst writing this story!”
“I bloody wish I earned what was written in the press. I only get paid on days I work,” she added. So, while the number may not be as high as first reported, we think it’s safe to say that Maya is making a lot of money in the Love Island villa as she’s hosted four seasons.
Plus, Maya’s net worth is reportedly over £3 million and she revealed to the Evening Standard that she became a millionaire at just 24-years-old. Um, fancy paying for our lunch or drinks, Maya?
Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
