Helena Rees-Mogg has ruled out an appearance on Strictly Come Dancing after she was named the “stand out star” of the new reality TV series about her family.
Speaking to GB News Helena Rees-Mogg said: “[My main concerns were] that I would probably come across as a complete berk.
“It hasn’t come out yet, but we hope for the best.
“I probably spent too much time worrying about how I look, how I sound. I say, ‘who cares?’ But of course, we discussed the children.
“I practically tripped over [the film crew] walking into the house on the 22nd of May.
“Yes, there were yet more people in the house, but thank goodness, I suppose they never turned up unexpectedly. They tend to arrange that they would come and film something.”
Discussing whether she wanted to take part in Strictly Come Dancing, Helena said: “No, definitely not, I can’t really dance, unless you count reeling, Scottish country dancing.
“The little I’ve seen of [the Kardashians], they all look extremely attractive, considerably more so than us, I’m afraid. And they’re very talented at lots of things, makeup lines and things.
“So it’s back to the quiet life with any luck, as much as our life is ever quiet. You [Jacob] may be something to do with that.”
On the rules the family set with the film crew: “You thankfully said, ‘fully dressed only’ although possibly cute little people in Trotter pyjamas were fine, but ideally matching.
“But certainly everyone 13+ would absolutely be fully dressed and there would not be nightwear, bedrooms and bathrooms, thank goodness.
“I’m very happy to let Sean [Goodwin, the Rees-Mogg’s Butler] be the star of the show. What happens if he asks for royalties?
“And thank goodness for Veronica [the nanny] always.”
Discussing how the children managed with the filming, she said: “I think teenagers these days, I mean, half their lives are on screen anyway, but that’s because they’re all filming each other, or course, of themselves, or something.
“So, yes, yeah, [Mary] certainly well done her, she went with it and made the best of it, as I hope did we all, despite you trying to impose a sort of TikTok ban on the entire family because you’re worried about the Chinese connections or something.”
On whether politician’s wives should have their clothes bought for them, she said: “No, but then not every politician’s spouse is lucky enough to have a fashion designer in the family. I have my sister-in-law, who is very generous.”
