Harry and Meghan ‘don’t know what they’re trying to do’ as Archewell makes £8.7m revenue drop

A new video released by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, showing them carrying out charity work for The Archewell Foundation, has sparked discussion about what the couple is trying to achieve.

Their impact statement, in which the video was included, details their efforts to ‘uplift communities communities across the globe’, comes as the foundation suffers a significant £8.7 million drop in revenue in the space of 12 months.

Ingrid Seward joined Eamonn Holmes and Isabel Webster on GB News to discuss Harry and Meghan’s recent charity pursuits.

Eamonn began, asking: “What are they selling? You see the point is if we go to the Invictus Games, the war wounded that Harry, and I think Meghan, represent on that front… and they can do that in the UK and they can do that in the USA.

“But once you get to this Archewell business, I couldn’t tell you what it stands for. Just a lot of ‘do gooding’, I don’t know. But should they not solidify and concentrate on one or two things in particular?”

“I absolutely agree,” said Seward. “I think no one can really tell you what Archewell exactly is trying to do. They want to spread the word, but what word? It’s not very simple.

“And they want to do good as you say, but what kind of good do they really want to do? It’s not clear at all and it seems to me that they don’t really know what they’re trying to do.

Isabel chimed in: “They have been very, very quiet for a number of weeks. We haven’t heard or really seen them.

“They’ve dropped this video which we can see some commentators – I think probably a bit cynically – saying it was to try and keep up with the Wales’s who did that similar video of ‘do gooding’ yesterday.

The video released by the Sussexes comes shortly after the couple faced controversy for their suspected involvement in Omid Scobie’s new biography, which included private letters between King Charles and Meghan Markle.

Isabel continued: “People were expecting and hoping for them to come out and condemn Omid Scobie and the allegations made in his book, which makes people suspect that in fact, they were once again the source for Omid Scobie’s book. So it’s interesting they’ve come out, broken their silence with this video and said nothing about end game.”

“Their PR is very, very strange to us,” replied Seward. “It seems that it concentrates on not listening to what’s happening, but just going ahead with what they’re doing. And it’s very strange that they haven’t distanced themselves from Scobie’s very unpleasant book.

“But I think your main point is that nobody really knows what they’re trying to do.

“And I mean the Princess of Wales released a video with her and the children, and it was very simple. It was very obvious what they were doing and it was just very sort of homely.

“This is very slick and it still doesn’t tell us what they’re trying to do apart from hug a few veterans. I know that is Harry’s big thing, is military veterans, but all Meghan ever seems to do is just hug a lot of people.

“And I think that just doesn’t tell us what she’s really wanting to get across.”
