Nipping to the salon is a great option if you’re looking to achieve a better barnet in a hurry.

But for long-term, sustainable results, it’s important to cultivate healthy hair habits over time.

According to a beauty and hair enthusiast who totally transformed her locks, a few simple practices can give you the best hair of your life.

Tatyana Lafata (who goes by @tatlafata on TikTok) took to the platform to share the “best” tips that helped her grow her hair “so long, healthy and luscious”.

As well as the pre-shower routine that made her hair “stronger” and “more hydrated”, Tatyana uses a detox shampoo at least once per week.

She told fellow hair enthusiasts: “Products do matter. Use the right products for your hair type and take care of your scalp.

“Detox shampoo at least once a week. Your scalp is everything – if this is happy and clean, the rest of your hair will be happy and clean as well.”

The experts at Love Beauty and Planet, which sells hair and body products, also confirmed the benefits of detox shampoo.

They said: “Detox hair care works like a reset, helping to whisk away dirt, dandruff, oil, product build-up and even hard-water residue to strengthen, clarify and help give strands a fresh start.

“It also helps to unblock clogged pores and do away with dead skin cells, all of which work together to help improve scalp health.

“Like a factory reset on your phone, heavy detox shampoo is best saved for weekly use. But if you exercise every day, you love styling products, live in a busy (AKA polluted) city or your hair has started to shed, it might be time to incorporate a mild daily detox shampoo and conditioner into your hair care regime.”

For sensational strands, Tatyana also limits her usage of heated tools, sticking to just once per week.

She maintains her gorgeous curls throughout the rest of the week using heatless techniques such as “sock curls”.

She also takes vitamins and avoids wearing her hair in “damaging” styles that can cause “breakage”.

For ladies looking to improve their tresses, better hair starts with an effective washing routine.

One hair expert warned that “you’re probably washing your hair wrong”, sharing the “important step before using shampoo”.
