The Guardian has triggered anger after a comedian suggested I’m a Celeb hosts, Ant and Dec will have “blood on their hands and face” if Nigel Farage wins the ITV show.
Stewart Lee launched his attack on the GB News’ presenter saying ITV “provides an uncritical platform for a dangerous demagogue to present himself as a man of the people without being held to account in any meaningful way.”
Lee also blasted Ant and Dec as the “two perma-grinning apologist pr****” during his anti-Farage rant.
“If another political assassination follows Farage’s further ascent, Dec will have blood on his hands and Ant will have blood on his face,” the comedian wrote in the Guardian.
“Yes. I meant to say that. As the blood spatters, see, I imagine both Ant and Dec instinctively trying to shield their faces, but that Ant’s reaction time would be a little slower.”
Former Brexit Party MEP, Belinda De Lucy told GB News that left-wing supporters have “worked themselves up into an emotional lava” for years over Farage.
She said: “They have fallen victim to their own hysteria, first demonising him beyond all recognition and then being terrified of the monster they’ve created. It’s hysterical and they sound deranged, clearly.
“But what is really interesting is clearly they’re worried. They are worried that someone like Nigel who has very centrist, moderate points of view like a country governing itself and making its own laws, and having sustainable immigration, controlling borders, these are globally recognised centrist views and a lot on the left hate them.”
Social media users also shared their fury over the comedian’s “hatred”.
One user said: “Stewart Lee trying to strip away the rights of people he doesn’t politically agree with then? There is a word for this type of belief/behaviour.”
Another added: “Oh Blimey, The Guardian has reached a new low in the article by #StewartLee Ant & Dec having blood on their hands if #Farage wins? It’s #ImaCeleb you numpty!”
De Lucy added: “They’ve spent so long demonising brexiteers and people who care about sustainable immigration that now they don’t like the real face of ordinary Brits is much like Nigel.”
Former Labour aide Stella Tsantekidou disagreed as she slammed the “celebritification of politicians”.
speaking on GB News, she said: “I can not speak for the entirety of the left but for myself as a left wing person, I am scared of Nigel Farage, not necessarily winning, I am scared of the celebritification of politicians.
“I am scared of having more Donald Trump figures in the UK.”
