Greggs has confirmed prices on several of its favourite menu items will rise before the end of December, marking the fourth time the bakery chain has increased prices in 2025.

The company said the latest changes would come into effect later this month.

They told customers they should expect “small price changes” across parts of its range.

The bakery chain said the increases are due to continued pressure from rising costs and inflation affecting the business.

The confirmation comes as new official figures show UK inflation eased to 3.2 per cent in November.

Data from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) also showed food inflation fell from 4.9 per cent in October to 4.2 per cent.

Despite the easing figures, Greggs said cost pressures remain across its supply chain.

A Greggs spokesman said: “We continue to offer our customers great value and high-quality products across the entire range.”

The company has not confirmed which products will be affected by the latest increases.

However, staff speculation shared online suggests some items could rise by between five pence and ten pence.

The upcoming changes emerged after what appeared to be an internal memo to Greggs staff was shared on social media.

The message provided employees with guidance on how to respond to customer complaints about pricing.

The memo said: “We’re always committed to offering our customers great quality that delivers the best value for money.”

It added: “Like many retailers, we’re having to manage the pressure of rising prices across our supply chain.”

Staff were advised to reassure customers about the changes.

The guidance said: “We always try and absorb costs where we can, but we’ve had to make some small price increases.”

It added: “We’re confident that we still offer outstanding value.”

The memo prompted discussion among Greggs employees online, with several expressing concern about customer reactions.

Some workers said they expected frustration from customers once the changes take effect.

Others noted frontline staff often bear the brunt of complaints despite having no control over pricing decisions.

Greggs confirmed that not all products will be affected by the upcoming rises.

The spokesman said: “Many of our customers’ favourites, such as breakfast and sandwich meal deals, will not change.”

However, the memo indicated that some items will be removed from menus.

The Hot Shot Pizza is due to be withdrawn on December 29.

The BBQ Bites Meal Box promotion with a drink is also set to be discontinued but the BBQ Bites Meal Deal will remain available.

Seasonal products will continue to be sold until January 5.

Greggs said the latest price changes are expected to take effect on December 30 and will mean the company has implemented four price increases in a single year.

The company has previously said it faces higher costs for ingredients, energy and wages

In October, Greggs raised the price of its two-item breakfast deal by 20 pence to £3.15.

The three-item breakfast deal also rose by 20 pence to £4.15.

Sweet items were affected at the same time with the star biscuit and croissant both increasing from £1.35 to £1.40.

Earlier in 2025, Greggs also increased the price of its sausage roll.

The company has previously said it faces higher costs for ingredients, energy and wages.

It has continued to expand its 2,400-strong store network despite the cost pressures.

It has said value remains central to its offer as consumers continue to face higher living costs, and it would continue to review prices while trying to minimise the impact on customers.
