Australian actor Guy Pearce and Game of Thrones star Carice van Houten have split up.
The 48-year-old Dutch actress, who shares a nine-year-old son, Monte, with 57-year-old Pearce, revealed that they not only split but have not been a couple for “years.”
Taking to Instagram Stories on Wednesday, she shared a picture of her and Pearce smiling, adding: “I don’t usually engage in discussions about my personal life, but because of a number of conclusions in the media last week regarding my relationship with Guy, I wanted to make something clear.
“He and I are great friends and love each other very much, but we haven’t been a couple for years.
“I am however, very proud to say we are in a wonderful partnership raising the true love of our lives – our beautiful son and his hamster. The end.”
Pearce and van Houten started dating a few months after he split from ex-wife Kate Mestitz in 2015 before welcoming their son the following year.
Rumours of a split began to circulate earlier this month after Peace – who originally shot to fame in the Australian soap Neighbours – admitted that instead of van Houten, he called his ex Mestitz the “greatest love of my life”.
“My ex-wife, Kate, was the greatest love of my life, but I’ve moved on from her now and the greatest love of my life is my child, Monte,’ he said in an interview with The Guardian.
Back in 2018, Pearce revealed that his split from Mestitz after 18 years of marriage had left him feeling suicidal.
He credited van Houten and their son for supporting him through a “very challenging period of [his] life”.
Pearce – whose other acting credits include The Time Machine and Priscilla Queen of the Desert – has yet to comment on his split with van Houten.
