Many of us talk in secretive language when trying to get across a private message.

We might use body language or a subtle wink to convey something to a close friend nearby, or a nudge under the table to alert our neighbour of a private joke.

Now, a flight attendant has revealed the secret code cabin crew use to alert one another of an attractive customer onboard an aircraft.

It’s as simple as a single word.

A flight attendant, who asked to remain anonymous, told eShores: ‘If you hear them refer to someone as “Bob”, they are using the secret acronym “babe on board”.

‘When you are disembarking from the aircraft, if the flight attendant says “cheerio” to you this could also be code they have a secret crush!

‘We always run back to the galley and let the rest of the crew know where the sexy passenger is sat.

‘We will be extra nice to them and give them freebies. I can confirm phone numbers have definitely been written on napkins!’

There are lots of other secret codes cabin crew use to convey messages on board.

‘Mermaid’ is a playful yet passive-aggressive nickname for a passenger who deliberately sprawls out across empty seats to deter others from sitting in their row.

Code 300 or Angel indicate someone has died on board.

Plus, ‘ABP’ translates to ‘able-bodied passengers’. These are individuals that the crew can enlist in case of an emergency.

Another secret term is ‘Gate Lice’.

This  refers to passengers, often inexperienced flyers, who crowd around or line up at a gate at an airport, blocking the boarding area and preventing First and Business Class passengers from boarding the plane when it’s their turn.

What’s more, a VIP doesn’t necessarily mean important if you hear it on a plane.

A cabin crew expert previously explained that VIP actually stands for Very Irritating Person among flight attendants – so it’s not the impressive title you might have thought.

A flight attendant also previously revealed the secret code name for unpleasant passengers – and why you should be on your best behavior if you hear it.

The airline employee said the word indicates someone has upset the crew members and will be treated accordingly.

‘If you’re labeled a “Philip,” then you’ve done something wrong and should probably expect to get bad service for the rest of the flight,’ they told The Sun.

‘That name originated from the term PILP – Passenger I’d Like to Punch – but has changed over time to become slightly more subtle,’ they added.
