Piers Morgan has been hospitalised following a fall at a London hotel restaurant that left him requiring emergency hip replacement surgery.
The broadcaster sustained a fractured femur after tripping on a small step, with the injury proving severe enough to necessitate a complete hip replacement.
Mr Morgan shared the news with his followers on social media, posting images from his hospital bed alongside an X-ray showing the extent of the damage.
The former Good Morning Britain presenter admitted he “fell like a sack of spuds” after misjudging the step, resulting in the serious injury that has now left him recovering in hospital.

PAThe 60-year-old television personality documented his ordeal on Instagram, sharing photographs of himself lying in his hospital bed as well as the stark X-ray image revealing his broken hip.
Mr Morgan took a characteristically humorous approach to announcing his misfortune, posting a numbered list on both Instagram and X that detailed the sequence of events leading to his hospitalisation.
In his post, he wrote: “1. Tripped on a small step. 2. Inside a London hotel restaurant. 3. Fell like a sack of spuds. 4. Fractured neck of femur.
“5. So badly I needed a new hip. 6. Recovering in hospital. 7. Crutches for 6 weeks. 8. No long-haul flying for 12 weeks. 9. New Year off to a cracking start! 10. I blame Donald Trump.”
The tongue-in-cheek accusation against his close friend mirrors a similar joke from 2019, when Mr Morgan blamed President Trump, Brexit and vegan sausage rolls, for a stomach condition that required hospital treatment.
