  • Rasmus Hojlund couldn’t hide his frustration when United wasted an opening

Eagle-eyed viewers spotted Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund raging at Amad Diallo during their side’s dismal 2-0 defeat at Wolves on Boxing Day.

Goals from Matheus Cunha and Hwang Hee-chan inflicted a fifth defeat on Ruben Amorim in only his 10th game in charge of the Red Devils at Molineux.

Captain Bruno Fernandes was also dismissed after being shown two yellow cards on an evening that saw United slump into 14th, just eight points above the drop zone.

The dire run of form is likely to have dented morale at the club and Amorim’s players failed to hide their frustration during large spells of the game.

But one particular incident caught the eye of supporters during the first half.

Striker Hojlund was seen losing his cool with Diallo after the forward spurned a chance, having collected a long ball before firing his effort straight at a defender.

Hojlund, stood to the left of his team-mate and just outside the penalty area, leaped into the air in a tantrum and remonstrated furiously with his arms.

The moment proved costly for a blunt United side with Cunha breaking the deadlock just before the hour mark after his corner flew over Andre Onana’s head.

United supporters ripped into the 21-year-old for his role in the bust-up with Diallo, savaging him as ‘entitled’ and ‘whiny’ and declaring they have lost patience with him.

‘This Hojlund guy is so unbearable,’ one X user said. ‘Amad has every right to shoot there and man keeps moaning. You can’t even hold the ball properly.’

‘His positioning is the worst I’ve seen from any striker ever,’ another added.

A third wrote: ‘Hojlund makes a run and starts wrestling the defender instead of the through ball… then he wants to get mad when Amad decides not to pass to him.’

A fourth said: ‘Hojlund has to stop bitching and crying whenever Amad doesn’t pass.’

‘Not Hojlund acting like an entitled whiny three-year-old when Amad didn’t pass and then the next time he gets the ball loses it instantly,’ a fifth posted.

The striker was hooked after failing to muster a single shot on target on a dire evening

Hojlund and Diallo were also involved in a spat after United’s victory against Viktoria Plzen

‘I’ve lost patience with this guy.’

After taking just 14 touches of the ball and failing to record a shot on target, Hojlund was hooked by Amorim and replaced by Joshua Zirkzee.

Hojlund and Diallo were also involved in an on-pitch row after United’s 2-1 victory over Viktoria Plzen earlier this month – though Amorim insisted the spat was ‘healthy’.

The frontman was denied the chance to complete his hat-trick in stoppage time when Diallo elected to go alone rather than cross. Then, just moments later, Hojlund opted against passing to the winger, leading to an argument at the final whistle.

‘Yes (I was aware of that), and for me it’s perfect,’ Amorim later said.

‘In this moment we need to feel something. If we need to fight each other, it’s like a family. For me it’s a very good sign. We need to feel something and that is important.’

He then added: ‘When you don’t care, you don’t do nothing. When you care, you fight with your brother, with your father, with your mother. For me, it’s a very good sign.

‘It’s a normal thing. I think it’s a positive thing, a healthy thing, so I let the players and the captain to calm down the things.’
