Roberto De Zerbi appeared to be both shocked and concerned when he learned of West Ham’s 2-0 win against Arsenal.

David Moyes’ side have now claimed back-to-back victories against both Manchester United and the Gunners, with the Hammers now set to face off against Brighton on Tuesday night.

While De Zerbi’s men claimed a big 4-2 victory against Tottenham on Thursday, with Pervis Estupinan scoring a sensational goal from outside of the penalty area, the Brighton boss looked troubled when hearing about the result at the Emirates during his post-match press conference.

A voice from out of camera can be heard whispering to the Italian, ‘2-0 to West Ham’ as he addressed the media.

De Zerbi can appear to be overheard replying ‘2-0?’ looking worried, before the person adds: ‘West Ham.’

The Brighton boss displayed an anxious look, gritting his teeth before addressing the the room of journalists, proceeding to continue with his press conference.

But fans have poked fun at the manager on social media with one writing on X (formerly Twitter): ‘He remembered he had Saliba in his FPL’.

Tomas Soucek opened the scoring for West Ham after 13 minutes before Konstantinos Mavropanos headed in to double their lead 10 minutes after half-time.

Despite the scoreline, Arsenal had 74 per cent of possession, 30 goal attempts and eight shots on goal. David Moyes’ side, conversely, had six attempts, but were more clinical, getting three of those shots on target.

Brighton similarly suffered a similar defeat by West Ham in August, with the Seagulls having 78 per cent possession, 26 goal attempts and 10 shots on target, but ultimately were beaten 3-1 by the Irons who had just 12 attempts in comparison.

Speaking on De Zerbi, another fan said: ‘They had a similar game earlier this season with West Ham. De Zerbi knows!’

One wrote: ‘He understands it because his team also lost to West Ham at home.’

‘He plays them next, to be honest he’s just worried they’re in good form,’ another added.

Brighton, meanwhile, went ahead of Newcastle in the Premier League on Thursday night after claiming victory against Tottenham.

And after the match, De Zerbi lauded his team, saying to BBC Match of the Day: ‘We played fantastic football for 80 minutes and then we were unlucky in the first goal we conceded. After that we suffered the quality of Tottenham.

IT’S ALL KICKING OFF!

It’s All Kicking Off is an exciting new podcast from Mail Sport that promises a different take on Premier League football, with a show every Monday and Thursday this season.

It is available on MailOnline, Mail+, YouTube , Apple Music and Spotify

‘Tottenham are the team that has played the best football in the first part of the season. We have to accept this reaction.

‘We have to accept to concede a goal in this way. If we are able to win 4-0 and concede a goal in that way then it is because we are showing great character, courage and quality for 80 minutes, and sometimes you have to accept these mistakes.

‘I think this season it was the best performance. Not just for Joao Pedro and Billy Gimour, I am speaking in general for Brighton.

‘I am really lucky to be this coach of this team with these players. I am very pleased with the passion they have, they have everything.’
