Atlanta Falcons owner Athur Blank desperately’ wants to hire former New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick, according to CBS Sports’ Jonathan Jones.
The report also noted that the job is Belichick’s if he wants it but that the 71-year-old coach is still 50/50 on taking the position.
Belichick first interviewed for the Falcons vacant head coaching position on Monday, before completing his second interview with the team on Friday.
Despite Blank’s apparent wish to bring in Belichick the team is still doing their due diligence and are looking into other candidates to fill former head coach Arthur Smith’s shoes.
The Falcons also scheduled a second interview for Michigan Wolverines head coach Jim Harbaugh that will take place next week.

The Falcons are also set to interview Jim Harbaugh for the second time next week for the job
Harbaugh had completed his first interview with Atlanta on Tuesday, only one day after Belichick.
The National Championship winning coach has also completed an interview with the Los Angeles Chargers.
Atlanta’s coaching search has also brought on news of other major interviews besides the two top names on this year’s coaching carousel.
Before conducting Belichick’s second interview in person the Falcons also conducted a virtual meeting with defensive Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn.

Atlanta also interviewed Aaron Glenn and is scheduled interview Mike Vrabel next week
Rob Gronkowski has been all in on the links between the Falcons trying to hire Belichick
Glenn also completed a virtual interview with the Tennessee Titans on Friday.
Atlanta is also set to interview former Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel in person next Wednesday, according to ESPN’s Jeff Darlington.
The Falcons interviewed interim Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Joe Brady on Saturday as well.
Even before the news of Blanks supposed desperation, Belichick’s former tight end turned FOX NFL analyst Rob Gronkowski had been sipping all of the tea when it comes to the links between Belichick and the Falcons based off his recent comments.
Gronkowski previously reported that the Falcons were ‘coming in hot’ for Belichick and more recently referred to the 71-year-old as a ‘powerhouse’ and ‘still the great Bill Belichick.’
