Explosions have been heard as a bomb squad continues to deal with a suspcious package on a residential street.
Nottinghamshire Police confirmed it was dealing with a “suspicious package” on Park Road in Lenton.
Officers were initially alerted of an incident earlier today at around 2pm.
Bystanders assembled outside the nearby Tesco Express screamed as explosions went off.
Police proceeded to evacuate residents from the surrounding area.
A Nottinghamshire Police spokesperson said: “This is an ongoing incident and we’re dealing with it as a major incident, alongside other emergency services, and will be providing further regular updates on our website and social media.
“Residents are urged to avoid the area at this time and we’d like to thank them for their patience and understanding.”
