• Tyson Pedros bout with Kris Terzievski postponed
  • Former UFC star fractured his elbow while sparring
  • Pedro shared a graphic photo of the painful incident

Tyson Pedro has shared an image of the moment he fractured his elbow, with the nasty injury derailing the former UFC star’s plans to make his pro boxing debut.

Pedro was slated to meet Australian heavyweight champion, Kris Terzievski, for the vacant WBC International Bridgerweight title, in an exclusive Stan pay-per-view fight on June 12 at Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion, but the bout has been called off.

A ‘devastated’ Pedro took to social media on Wednesday morning to share a gruesome image of the moment he fractured his arm.

‘Not the way you want to see your arm going,’ Pedro captioned the pic.

Pedro’s injury has forced him to delay his pro boxing debut slated for next month

‘Pretty devastated have to postpone the fight. Lucky its not a bad break and should be a quick turnaround.

‘Thanks for the messages. Same mission, different timeline.’

Boxing legend and promotor Danny Green also commented on the Aussie fighter’s withdrawal from the bout.

‘He is pretty gutted … it’s fairly deflating and fairly devastating news for him and his family and everyone involved around him,’ Green told Wide World of Sports.

‘His opponent Kris Terzievski has been training really hard and all the fighters on the undercard now have to face the cancellation, which is very difficult news to be giving people. Unfortunately, that’s the nature of combat sports.’

‘It’s probably too early to tell [how long he will be sidelined], we only just got the results back this morning. There is the strong possibility of him requiring surgery.’

If anybody knows how to deal with injury, it’s Tyson Pedro. The Penrith product suffered a series of knee injuries that kept him sidelined from the UFC for more than three years.

Tyson’s incredible injury struggles have been widely reported, but what is less widely known are his mental struggles throughout the ordeal.

‘I had a nervous breakdown,’ he revealed in 2022.

Pedro had a great start to his UFC career but hit a major hurdle when a brutal knee injury kept him sidelined for three years

‘I’ve never spoken about this to anyone outside close family but the pressure got too much.

‘I’d had four years worrying about my knee, about money, about providing for my wife and daughter … and now, finally, here was the time where I had to win.

‘So one day I just started drinking, and that was it. I disappeared on a bender for days.’

John Pedro, Tyson’s dad, was instrumental in helping his son through this dark period and getting his training back on track.
